So far the process went well. Jed came over and investigated the house to determine where to install the system. He came right back and the system was installed in less than a day. It looks great, but we’ll see how well it functions where we do another radon test.

Expert Crawlspace Encapsulation in Salt Lake County, UT
Crawlspace encapsulation seals the space beneath your home to block moisture, soil gases, and outside air from entering your living areas. For homes in Duchesne County, this matters year-round. The county's cold semi-arid climate brings significant snowfall in winter and sharp temperature swings between seasons. Snowmelt in spring pushes ground moisture upward, and exposed soil in an unsealed crawlspace lets that moisture and soil gases like radon migrate directly into your home. The encapsulation process covers crawlspace floors and walls with a heavy-duty polyethylene barrier, seals vents and gaps, and may include a dehumidifier to keep humidity in check. Because radon can enter through the same pathways as moisture, encapsulation works alongside radon mitigation to reduce entry points at the foundation level. Upfront Radon serves homeowners throughout Duchesne County. If you notice musty odors, cold floors, or rising energy bills, contact us to schedule an assessment.

Crawlspace Encapsulation FAQ
Common questions about crawlspace encapsulation in Salt Lake County, UT.
Yes. Even in Duchesne County's dry climate, snowmelt and seasonal temperature swings push ground moisture into unprotected crawlspaces. An unsealed crawlspace lets that moisture and soil gases travel upward into your home regardless of outdoor humidity.
Encapsulation seals the floors and walls of your crawlspace, which reduces the openings that radon uses to enter from the soil. For Duchesne County homeowners, pairing encapsulation with radon mitigation addresses both moisture and gas entry at the same time.
The process covers the crawlspace floor and foundation walls with a heavy-duty polyethylene barrier, then seals vents and gaps throughout the space. A dehumidifier may also be added to maintain controlled humidity levels after sealing.
Yes. Musty odors typically come from damp air and mold growth in an unsealed crawlspace rising into living areas. Sealing the crawlspace cuts off that air pathway and keeps moisture from building up below your floors.
Yes. Sealing crawlspace vents and covering walls stops cold outside air from moving beneath your floors. This helps your home hold heat more consistently during Duchesne County's cold winter months.
Common signs include musty odors inside the home, cold or uneven floors, visible mold, or pest activity traced to the crawlspace. If you have already tested for elevated radon levels, encapsulation is often part of the recommended solution.
